IT Internship

Description

HOS is a Veteran-owned Atlassian & AWS Solution Provider company known for Fractional Support Services, Project Services, and Managed Services. We are seeking a self-directed IT intern with a passion for technology, collaboration, and creative problem-solving. This intern will work with other interns and actively contribute to meaningful projects while working closely with a mentor and with leadership. Internships are typically 12 weeks in duration but can run seasonally, quarterly, & annually.

IT Intern Duties and Responsibilities

• Support the IT administrators team in maintaining hardware, software, and other systems, for our customer's and internal systems
• Provide active front line technical support and assist with troubleshooting issues
• Gain a wide range of experience while providing support to our cybersecurity, DevOps, QA/Test, application administration, and analytics & reporting resources

Requirements

• Exceeds expectations, shows up on time, doesn't whine, and sees this internship as an investment by both parties in the intern's future
• Familiar with Linux, Java, JavaScript, Apache, PHP, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, and Microsoft Office products
• Familiarity with Atlassian Jira Software, Jira Service Management, & Confluence will be given preferential status
• Familiar with cloud products like AWS and/or Azure will be given preferential status
• Strong verbal and written communication
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work well in teams
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Doesn't wait to be told to do something
• Takes initiative but doesn't take uncalculated risks
• Not afraid to ask dumb questions (it's how you learn the fastest)
• MOST IMPORTANTLY: If you can't type, WITH ALL 10 FINGERS, it won't matter what other skillsets, experience, or certifications you have. It's just not a good look, you are slower, no matter how fast you think you can type with just 2 fingers.

Extras

HOS is big on Open Source technology, which we use in-house as well as manage for our customers, hardware AND software. Candidates with personal experience in Open Source applications, hardware, or development will be strongly considered.

Education

• Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems major, or equivalent experience (preferably formal like Military experience)
• Minimum GPA of 3.0

Veterans

• Special education programs (intern & apprenticeship) are available
• However, due to some of our customers requiring clearances and/or clean records, OTH (Other than Honorable) or Dishonorable Discharges need not apply

Job Type: Internship

Pay: $10.00 - $15.00 per hour
