Job Summary
The Information Technology Technician is responsible for providing support for all systems and equipment. Day-to-day supervision of the Information Technology Technician shall be the responsibility of the Chief Operating Officer.
Responsibilities
1. Set up, maintain, and update hardware, software and peripherals on PCs, printers and other related equipment
2. Standardize PC configuration
3. Administer company email, virus protection, and backup systems
4. Maintain, install and repair: switches, firewalls, network cabling, wireless devices and wireless access points, phone system, cell phones, MS Widows conversions/upgrades, PC’s
5. Monitor and troubleshoot network server logs
6. Receive trouble calls on equipment and diagnose problems
7. Monitor system-processing activities by observing computer console, peripherals, input, and output to ensure maximum throughput of data
8. Perform local and remote testing on equipment, including running computer programs to diagnose faults
9. Perform equipment repair, builds cables replace boards and components to identify or remedy failures
10. Perform all functions required to prepare and install microcomputers and related equipment, including connections to the data communications network
11. Assist in preparation and installation of software and peripheral devices
12. Assist in the diagnosis and resolution of software problems
13. Prepares and coordinates sending equipment out for repair
14. Orders and inventories spare parts, including stripping surplus equipment for parts
15. Submit requests for microcomputer services, develops alternate proposals, and recommends new applications
16. Develops system specifications, writes and tests programs and compiles support documentation and manuals
17. Implement systems and provides for ongoing maintenance and enhancements
18. Train users in the basic operation and maintenance of microcomputers and related components
19. Assists in the development of proposals for the procurement of information systems and services
20. Operates other information technology related equipment such as scanners, printers, plotters, graphics equipment, etc.
21. Perform miscellaneous functions as required, including (but not limited to) calling vendors to report/resolve problems, assisting with demonstrations and site preparations, assisting in changing microcomputer location
22. Maintain highest ethical standards and business conduct
23. Comply with applicable law and fully compliant and cooperate with PHSC’s Compliance Program.
24. Any other assignments deemed necessary.
Qualifications
1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
2. College Degree in Information Technology, A+ and/or network+ certification
3. Advanced computer skills including proficiency in MS Office
(Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access)
4. Knowledge of backup systems and techniques, server hardware and windows
server software.
5. Knowledge of SonicWall and HP ProCurve switch configuration and maintenance
6. Excellent oral communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information
to non-technical users.
7. Able to work independently and solve problems.
8. Emotional and mental maturity.
