SUMMARY

​​The IT Specialist works to provide technology support services to Administrators, District Office Staff, Teachers, Teacher Aides, Media-Tech Assistants and Students.

​QUALIFICATIONS​

  • Ability to make efficient use of time management to complete tasks and adhere to time/deadlines
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Possess good work ethic
  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
  • Experience in installing and updating software programs, memory upgrades, and ability to re-image computers
  • Experience in setting up and configuring personal computer systems for network use
  • Ability to change projector bulbs, clean and replace projectors, set up portable presentation systems

MAJOR DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

The list below is meant to be illustrative rather than all-inclusive. Accordingly, the list is meant to be a guide rather than a restriction on work assigned to an employee.

Technical Support 

  • Supports the technical needs of the Superintendent, Administration, District Office and Building Staff. 
  • Provides assistance and training to staff on information systems as necessary including (but not limited to) the Track-It, Microsoft Office Suite, SmartBoard Applications, and other systems (MAC computer Email/Citrix configuration). 
  • Provides assistance and training to staff via remote access and remote troubleshooting. 
  • Troubleshoots end user hardware and software issues related to workstations and SmartBoards. Assesses malfunctions of hardware and software applications for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain computer and network operations. 
  • Performs installations, repairs, and preventative maintenance of student lab workstations, staff workstations, and classroom workstations. 
  • Assists in technical setup of special programs (i.e. Assemblies or performances). Has working knowledge of building and Board of Education sound systems. 

Computer Systems Maintenance 

  • Installs computer hardware, peripherals, network equipment and software for the purpose of maintaining safe and effective district and site operations including classrooms, library/media centers, and computer labs. Fully test each installation/repair to guarantee resolution. 
  • Performs system upgrades as necessary for software and hardware related components as needed. 
  • Performs light administrative duties on network servers (i.e. reset Print Spooler). 
  • Assists with contacting vendors and service providers of IT equipment and supplies for efficient and effective classroom and office operations (Dell, Xerox, COTG, and IBT Video). 
  • Analyzes potential computer/printer problems and take corrective action. 
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of PC and Mac solutions to their problems and needs. 
  • Maintains and sync iPad carts with knowledge of Apple Configurator. 

Administrative 

  • Maintains records of all problems and corrective actions pertaining to equipment (i.e. Track-It). 
  • Maintains accurate records of building computer, printer and other technology inventories.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

​​This position may require physical ability to carry out the following activities: ​

  • Setting up, testing and adjusting sound equipment and tearing down equipment after programs.
  • Transporting a variety of items from district office and/or buildings for the purpose of providing needed equipment for programs and bringing hardware for repair.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $46,800.00 per year
