IT Support Engineer

IT Support Engineer Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE Position Overview We are seeking an experienced IT Support Engineer with strong expertise in network administration, system administration, and SQL database management. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of hands-on experience providing end-to-end IT support, troubleshooting, and optimizing infrastructure systems. Proficiency in shell scripting, SQL queries, and automation is crucial for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

• System & Network Administration

o Install, configure, and maintain Windows/Linux servers, desktops, and virtualized environments.

o Monitor and optimize network performance, ensuring reliability and security.

o Manage firewalls, VPNs, switches, and routers.

• Database Administration

o Administer, monitor, and maintain SQL databases to ensure high availability and performance.

o Write and optimize SQL queries for troubleshooting, reporting, and system integration. o Implement database backup, recovery, and security procedures.

• IT Support & Troubleshooting

o Provide Tier 2/3 support for system, network, and database-related incidents.

o Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues

. o Document procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.

• Automation & Scripting

o Develop and maintain shell scripts (Bash, PowerShell, etc.) to automate administrative tasks.

o Implement monitoring tools and alert systems for proactive issue detection.

• Security & Compliance

o Ensure systems are patched and aligned with company security policies.

o Conduct regular audits and assist in IT compliance efforts.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• 5+ years of experience in IT support, network/system administration, and database management.

• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, and VPNs.

• Hands-on experience with Linux and Windows server environments.

• Proficiency in SQL database administration (MySQL, MSSQL, PostgreSQL preferred).

• Strong scripting skills (Bash, PowerShell, Python is a plus).

• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, etc.).

• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

• Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

• IT certifications (CCNA, MCSA, RHCE, CompTIA Network+/Security+).
