About the Role:

The Non Union Janitor position in our Saginaw location, is essential for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all employees, visitors, and clients. This role involves performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure that all facilities meet high standards of hygiene and appearance. The janitor will be responsible for routine cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and waste disposal, as well as addressing any immediate maintenance needs. Attention to detail and a proactive approach are critical to prevent hazards and maintain operational efficiency. Ultimately, this role supports the overall functionality and positive image of the facility by ensuring a consistently clean and orderly environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work preferred but not required.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and supplies, including safe handling procedures.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a commercial or industrial facility.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to operate floor cleaning machines and other janitorial equipment.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively report issues and coordinate with team members.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and polishing floors and surfaces throughout the facility.
  • Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, and other common areas to maintain hygiene standards.
  • Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply shortages to the appropriate personnel promptly.
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down furniture or equipment for meetings or special events as needed.

Skills:

The required skills for this role include the ability to efficiently use cleaning tools and supplies to maintain facility cleanliness and hygiene. Physical stamina and attention to detail are essential for performing repetitive tasks and identifying areas that require special attention. Preferred skills such as operating floor cleaning machines enhance productivity and ensure thorough cleaning. Communication skills are used daily to report maintenance needs and coordinate with supervisors or other staff members. Additionally, knowledge of safety protocols ensures that cleaning activities are conducted in a manner that protects both the janitor and building occupants.
