Janitorial Supervisor

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Custodian to oversee the cleanliness and maintenance of our facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in custodial services, with a focus on ensuring that all areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. This role requires attention to detail, leadership skills, and the ability to manage a team effectively.

Duties

• Supervise and coordinate daily custodial activities, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
• Perform cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces in various areas.
• Oversee floor care operations such as buffing, stripping, and waxing floors to maintain their appearance.
• Conduct regular inspections of facilities to ensure cleanliness and address any maintenance issues promptly.
• Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, placing orders as necessary to ensure adequate stock levels.
• Train and mentor custodial staff on best practices for cleaning techniques and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with other departments to facilitate special events or projects requiring additional cleaning services.
• Maintain records of cleaning schedules, equipment maintenance, and supply usage.

Qualifications

• Previous janitorial or custodial experience is required; experience in commercial or industrial cleaning is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
• Familiarity with floor care processes including buffing and maintenance of various flooring types.
• Experience in facilities maintenance is a plus; porter experience will also be considered an asset.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating strong leadership skills.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in all tasks performed.
