We’re looking for a
Java Engineer
with a
DevOps and observability mindset
to help enhance and modernize our monitoring ecosystem as we transition from
Splunk
to
New Relic
. You will play a key role in building high-performing Java applications with strong instrumentation, visibility, and automation integrated into our delivery pipelines.
This role requires hands-on experience in
Java development
,
event-driven systems
, and
DevOps automation
, with a focus on enabling deep system observability and performance insight.
Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.

Build and manage APIs and event-driven services using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies.

Implement application instrumentation for logs, metrics, and traces using New Relic and Splunk.

Lead or support the migration of application telemetry, dashboards, and alerts from Splunk to New Relic.

Collaborate with DevOps teams to embed monitoring and alerting into CI/CD pipelines.
-
Automate observability configurations and deployments using Terraform, Python, or Bash.
-
Develop dashboards, alerts, and service-level indicators to proactively monitor application health.
-
Integrate monitoring and alerting with incident management tools such as PagerDuty, Opsgenie, or Slack.

Deploy and manage Java workloads on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
-
Ensure consistent logging and monitoring practices across all microservices.
-
Participate in Agile or Kanban sprints, contributing to planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
Requirements
-
5–8/7-10 years of hands-on experience in Java (Java 8+) and Spring Boot development.

Proven experience with Splunk (search queries, dashboards, alerts) and New Relic (APM, Infrastructure, NRQL).

Strong understanding of observability pillars — logs, metrics, and traces.

Experience with event-driven systems and messaging technologies like Kafka or RabbitMQ.

Practical experience integrating observability into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI).

Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash, YAML) for automation and deployment workflows.

Working knowledge of Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.

Experience deploying and monitoring applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for containerized and microservices environments.

Experience with Git workflows (branching, merging, conflict resolution).

Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and performance optimization skills.

Exposure to incident management and SLO/SLI-based observability practices.

(Nice to have) Prior involvement in Splunk to New Relic migration initiatives.

(Nice to have) Knowledge of other observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, or ELK stack.
