Your role

As a “hands on” Junior Product and Applications developer on the Beverages team, you will work (under direct supervision) on a diverse array of projects in a fast paced, and growing business unit. You will develop great tasting beverage prototypes that showcase Symrise technologies and ultimately translate into wins at the customer. Through cross - site collaboration with a cross functional team you will take projects from “benchtop through commercialization”. Strong technical fundamentals, communication skills and attention to detail will facilitate your success on our team. Your technical curiosity and passion for Beverages will motivate you to stay tuned into new technologies, industry trends, and product launches.

Key responsibilities:

• Support customer projects efficiently and in a timely manner in accordance with project parameters (Cost, restrictions, timing, processing, etc.). Participate in internal brainstorming sessions, and customer co-creation sessions as needed.
• Develop and prepare innovative beverage prototypes across a range of segments, to demonstrate Symrise’s technical capabilities to customers in accordance with BU objectives. Build technical knowledge and skills through assignments on projects across a wide range of beverage products.
• Develop rapport and foster open communication with Account managers and customers on projects when appropriate.
• Build solid technical skills through internal and external training opportunities
• Travel to customers for product presentations and meetings

About you

Knowledge and Experience Requirements:

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in food science (or related).
• 0-2 years of experience in beverage applications or beverage product development.
• Basic knowledge of food science fundamentals, ingredient functionality, beverage formulation, and manufacturing processes; Ability to conduct minor modifications of beverage bases, under supervision.
• Basic awareness of HACCP/Food Safety practices related to beverage formulation and processing.

Skills & Abilities:

• Willingness to learn and operate the lab equipment.
• Team player, strong time management, attention to detail, organizational and documentation skills.
• Positive attitude and flexible mindset to navigate fast moving projects and changing priorities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required for working closely with team members in other locations, as well as sales, marketing, and customers.
• Self-motivated to pursue continuous learning and development.
• Bonafide Occupational Qualifier – must be willing and able to taste and smell flavors.

Safety/Regulatory Training Requirements: RTK Training, Hazardous waste management, DOT Samples

Pay Transparency Disclosure: The expected annual salary range for this position is USD $58000.00 – USD $70,000.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and company performance.
