Full Time - Salary
This position is responsible for reviewing Court documents and information, for review and disposition thereof, filed before the York County Common Pleas Orphans’ Court by and/or on behalf of parties, executors and/or guardians for accounting to determine accuracy and compliance with requirements set forth by the Court, Supreme Court Procedural Rules and other statutory requirements.

Responsibilities:
- Review all estate filings for accuracy and completion.
- Notify attorneys of any missing or inaccurate estate filings, with follow-through until corrected.
- Keep accurate records of calls, correspondence, and work done on each estate. Review files with the Judge as necessary.
- Prepare Adjudication and Decree for each estate, along with any attachments required.
- Attend hearings regarding any Petitions and Accounts for audit.
- Keep accurate and detailed lists of all continued accounts. Periodically, contact the attorneys for updates and to facilitate closing the account.
- Prepare memoranda, draft adjudications and decrees in estates ripe for disposition.
- Review Petitions for Small Estates, contact attorneys, when necessary, acquire Judge’s signature, and file in Orphans’ Court.
- Prepare list of Small Estates and Continued Accounts for Call for Audits.
- Review Annual Guardian Reports of the Person and Estate through the GTS system for approval before filing in Orphans’ Court.
- Prepare Orders for appointment of guardianship monitors.
- Knowledge and use of the Orphan’s Court clerk’s computer system.
- Review all non-juvenile adoption petitions for accuracy and compliance with statutory requirements, ensuring they are ready for actual court processing, including petitions for termination of parental rights, as well as post adoption contact agreements, and advise counsel of any deficiencies.
- Review all surrogacy petitions for completion and compliance with all statutory requirements.
- Research complex legal issues for all Orphans’ Court matters.
- Attend YCBA Orphans’ Court rules committee and other meetings at the request of the Orphans’ Court judge.
- Assist in recruiting pro bono guardianship monitors, verify all criteria met, and make recommendations for assignment.
- Attend Orphans’ Court hearings at the request of the judge..
- Other duties as assigned by the Orphans’ Court Judge.
Requirements:
- Degree from accredited law school and preferred three or more years administrative/fiscal office experience, or any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience which has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the responsibilities of the position.
- Ability to provide effective, precise communication skills, verbal and written, thus establishing a professional demeanor with associates of the Court, representatives of the legal profession, and members of the public.
- Knowledge of accounting procedures and an aptitude toward detail and accuracy, including computer proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as an ability to learn proficiency in a guardianship tracking program.
- Clear Criminal Background Investigation.
