Essential Job Functions:

This position performs all functions and duties necessary in the Judicial Office to include, but not limited to, accepting cases and pleadings in person, by mail or through File & Serve, processing pleadings received by the court, and tasking work to the appropriate person or Queue for processing. Assisting customers, attorneys, and court related agencies regarding questions/procedures in person and by telephone, in a professional manner adhering to office guideline and policies.

Accepts and processes all traffic motions. Enters officer schedules in Officer Portal and maintain officer leave requests. Schedules traffic postponements and processes other traffic related motions/pleadings. Schedules parking ticket violations. Enters dispositions received from Circuit Court appeals and/or appeal remands. Schedules trial dates on waiver/trial requests received.

Accepts filings in File & Serve, checks to ensure filings meet requirements of rules and fees associated with filing. Accepts and tasks filings to appropriate queue as necessary.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma (or GED equivalent).

Experience: One (1) year of work experience, preferably in court operations or in the fields of criminal justice, parole and probation, legal or financial services.

Note:

A Bachelor?s Degree may substitute the required work experience.

A Paralegal/Associates Degree or 60 college credits may substitute the required work experience.

A Paralegal Certificate may substitute the required work experience.

Knowledge:

General office practices, procedures, and equipment.

Standard legal forms and documents used in the Judiciary.

Basic English and arithmetic to include, but not limited to, spelling, punctuation, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Skill in:

Customer service and handling problems tactfully and patiently.

Accuracy and attention to detail.

Ability to:

Use standard office and business equipment including, but not limited to, personal computers, word processing, database software, copier, microfilm machine, cash register, scanner, fax machine, etc.

Use and maintain alphabetical and numerical filing systems.

Communicate clearly, tactfully, and effectively with judges, the public, police agencies, attorneys, and other court officials and personnel, both verbally and in writing.

Understand and abide by departmental rules, regulations, and procedures.

Exercise tact, diplomacy, and impartiality in dealing with the public, law enforcement personnel, and attorneys.

Follow procedures, verbal and written instructions, and protocols for any given assignment.

Use proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

Exercise independent judgement in interpreting and applying appropriate policy, procedure, rule, law, and/or regulation to a situation.

Provide information in a polite and efficient manner.

Exercise tact in a pressure situation.

Physical Requirements:

Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Equipment, Machinery and Tools:

Personal computer is used for imputing information into the Case Management System.

Adding Machine, fax, copier, shredder, time clock, and typewriter are used to complete daily tasks.

Software and Computer Skills:

Odyssey- Case Management System; File & Serve, Outlook ? Email system; RCS system; Microsoft Office, Windows 10, CONNECT-Payroll system
