Job Summary
Become a part of our team; We are seeking a full-time detail-oriented individual to come on board as a Junior Accounting Clerk who is energetic, self-motivated and team player. This position is responsible for credit, billing and collection efforts. As well as, other accounting functions as needed. You will be working closely with the Practice Manager and Senior Accounting Clerk. As well as, interact with clients in a courteous and professional manner to ensure client satisfaction.

Lander Veterinary Clinic, Inc. (LVC) is a leader in the industry of large animal veterinary services and has been in operation for the last 75 years. Since, the 1950's the clinic has had a tremendous growth (transformation from being just a veterinary clinic to a full-service spot). LVC has grown into five divisions that include traditional large animal veterinary services, a milk quality laboratory service, pharmaceutical & dairy supply service, embryo transfer services and spay/neuter & vaccine clinic.

Benefits:

  • 6 Sick days accrued /.25 per pay period
  • Health Insurance for employee only after a 1 month waiting period (employee may choose to fund other family members themselves).
  • Eye/Dental Reimbursement: $2000/year with no carryover.
  • Vacation is accrued at 3.33 hours/pay period for a maximum of 10 days total accrued at any given time for years 1-4.
  • After 6 months of employment plus to the next quarterly entry date, the employee is guaranteed a 3% Safe Harbor contribution by the employer into a pension and profit-sharing plan. The board may elect to contribute a higher percentage.

Physical Setting: Office, prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Schedule: Monday to Friday 8am-5pm

Responsibilities/Duties:

As a junior accounting clerk, you will be involved in a range of tasks supporting the financial operations of LVC and its divisions. For instance,

  • Maintaining financial records
  • Monitoring accounts to ensure that payments are up to date
  • Reviewing invoices and statements to ensure that all the information appearing is accurate and complete.
  • Multi-task and work under time constraints
  • Processing transactions
  • Preparing reports
  • Handling of accounts payable and receivable
  • Assist in researching and resolving open payable items, respond promptly and courteously to inquiries reading the status of invoices.
  • Create purchase orders
  • Administrative tasks: filling, data entry and maintain financial data base
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures

Requirements / Preferred Qualifications:

Education:

A background in accounting is preferred with a focus on candidates holding an Associate's or Bachelor's degree.

- Proficiency in MS Excel and other MS office application.

- QuickBooks Preferred

- Knowledge of basic bookkeeping principles

- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with numbers accurately

- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines

- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion

- Strong organization and time management skills

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Data entry skills

- Bilingual is a plus: Spanish

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 per hour
