Jensen Estate Law, located in the Seattle Area, is seeking an Estate Planning Associate Attorney with an interest in estate planning. This role involves detailed work in document reviews, client consultations, trust funding, probate processes, and the drafting of complex estate plans.

Role Overview:

The Associate Attorney will be directly involved with various aspects of estate planning and administration. This role is suited for individuals motivated to assist clients in securing their legacy through careful planning and legal guidance.

Responsibilities:

  • Document Reviews and Signings: Review and facilitate the signing of estate planning documents such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.
  • Initial Client Meetings: Conduct consultations with clients who require basic to intermediate estate planning services.
  • Trust Funding: Assist clients in the funding process of trusts to ensure proper transfer and alignment of assets as per the estate plans.
  • Taxable Estate Administrations and Probates: Support in managing the administrative and probate processes for estates subject to taxation, ensuring compliance with Washington and federal legal standards.
  • Washington Estate Tax & Other Tax Planning: Advise and assist clients in navigating Washington estate tax rules, federal estate and gift tax issues, and income tax considerations that impact estate and trust planning.
  • Family Business & Entity Formation: Assist clients in forming and structuring family businesses (e.g., LLCs), and coordinate planning across multiple family entities such as trusts, LLCs, and partnerships to align with estate planning strategies.
  • Drafting of Complex Estate Plans: Participate in the drafting of intricate estate plans, working closely with senior attorneys to tailor strategies that meet clients' specific needs.

Qualifications:

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing client needs and legal scenarios.
  • Holds a Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and is an active member of the Washington State Bar.
  • Legal experience in estate planning is preferred, however qualified applicants may also have a keen interest in estate planning and experience in related practice areas, such as probate and administration, business, real estate, tax, etc.
  • Ability to travel between our Seattle and Eastside office.

Additional Requirements: Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas (including H-1B) at this time; background check may be required

Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary ($80,000–$120,000/year depending on experience), healthcare benefits, paid vacation, sick leave, and a 401(k) plan.
