Junior Barista

As a Barista, you will be the face of the coffee shop, providing exceptional service while crafting a variety of beverages. Your role involves preparing coffee drinks, operating brewing equipment, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare Beverages:

• Brew and serve hot and cold beverages, including espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, teas, and specialty drinks.
• Accurately follow recipes and customer preferences.
• Operate espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment.

Customer Service:

• Greet customers and take their orders with a friendly attitude.
• Offer product recommendations based on customer preferences.
• Ensure a positive customer experience through efficient and accurate service.

Cash Handling:

• Process transactions using a cash register or point-of-sale (POS) system.
• Handle payments and provide correct change.
• Balance the cash register at the end of shifts.

Maintain Cleanliness:

• Keep the work area clean and organized, including the coffee station, equipment, and seating area.
• Follow health and safety regulations to ensure a hygienic environment.
• Regularly clean and maintain brewing equipment.

Inventory and Stocking:

• Restock supplies such as coffee beans, syrups, milk, and cups as needed.
• Inform management when stock is low or equipment needs maintenance.

Teamwork:

• Collaborate with fellow baristas and staff to ensure smooth operation during peak hours.
• Assist in opening and closing duties when required.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Required:
• Previous experience as a barista or in customer service is preferred but not mandatory.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic math skills for handling money and operating a cash register.
• Preferred:
• Knowledge of coffee brewing methods and espresso machine operation.
• Passion for coffee and willingness to learn about different coffee varieties and techniques.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Ability to lift light to moderate weight (e.g., bags of coffee beans, milk containers).

Work Environment:

• Fast-paced coffee shop or café setting.
• Shifts may vary, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
