Job Overview
The Junior Buyer/Planner position is designed for entry-level candidates and is primarily responible for the planning of production activities in accordance with demand and established quality standards. In addition to production planning, this role involves the purchasing of necessary materials required for manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate for this position is expected to demonstrate strong organizational abilities and a results-driven mindset. Effective problem-solving skills are also essential for success in this role.
Duties
Production Planning
- Coordinate the production schedule to ensure timely and efficient operations.
- Communicate updates regarding new products and modifications to existing products with the plant team.
- Collaborate with the plant team to achieve established sales targets.
- Assess requirements for raw materials and packaging supplies to fulfill customer orders.
- Monitor production processes to guarantee completion within designated timeframes and budgets.
- Address operational issues as they arise to minimize disruptions and avoid inventory concerns.
- Collect and review productivity data (including traveler documentation) for necessary updates.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive production reports.
- Generate daily customer and production orders in JobBOSS, verifying the accuracy of material consumption upon order completion.
- Update and maintain customer and production orders as necessary.
- Communicate any changes to customers promptly while fostering positive relationships.
Purchasing
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure that raw materials, packaging, and office supplies are maintained at adequate levels to support the production schedule.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers, ensuring product quality, timely delivery, and contract compliance.
- Employ effective negotiation strategies to secure optimal pricing.
- Prepare accurate purchase orders by validating specifications and prices.
- Oversee order progress and expedite as necessary.
- Confirm receipt of goods by comparing deliveries to purchase orders; address and resolve any discrepancies directly with suppliers.
Skills
- Proficiency in MRP for procurement management.
- Knowledge of supply chain management principles including logistics, sourcing, and pricing strategies.
- Familiarity with quality management practices within manufacturing environments.
- Strong analytical skills for data-driven decision-making in materials planning.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with suppliers, customers and internal teams.
