Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Retail Data Analyst to support merchandising, pricing, inventory optimization, and customer analytics initiatives. The ideal candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, supply chain teams, and marketing departments to generate actionable insights from large retail datasets.


Key Technical Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain SQL queries to extract data from relational databases (MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
  • Build interactive dashboards using Power BI / Tableau to track KPIs such as sales performance, inventory turnover, sell-through rate, and gross margin.
  • Perform data cleaning and transformation using Python (Pandas, NumPy) or Excel Power Query.
  • Conduct trend analysis, basket analysis, and seasonal forecasting to support merchandising decisions.
  • Work with POS (Point of Sale) and ERP data for reporting and reconciliation.
  • Perform A/B test analysis for promotional campaigns and pricing experiments.
  • Automate recurring reports using SQL stored procedures and Python scripts.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to validate ETL pipelines and ensure data accuracy.
  • Create ad-hoc analytical reports for senior management using advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Macros).
  • Assist in predictive modeling for demand forecasting using basic machine learning techniques.


Required Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of SQL (Joins, CTEs, Window Functions, Aggregations)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Advanced Formulas, Pivot Tables, Macros)
  • Experience with Power BI or Tableau
  • Basic knowledge of Python (Pandas, Matplotlib, Seaborn)
  • Understanding of Retail KPIs (Inventory Turnover, Sell-Through, Shrinkage, GMROI)
  • Familiarity with ETL processes and data warehousing concepts
  • Basic understanding of statistics (hypothesis testing, regression analysis)
  • Exposure to ERP systems (SAP, Oracle Retail, NetSuite) is a plus
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP) is an added advantage


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or related field
  • Internship or academic project experience in Retail / E-commerce analytics
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder reporting skills
