Junior Data Engineer & Analyst

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst / Data Engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and financial analytics.

This role includes building scalable cloud data pipelines, developing enterprise-grade data models, and delivering financial reporting dashboards and insights. The ideal candidate blends strong data engineering skills with a solid foundation in financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, expense visibility, revenue insights, and executive reporting.

Key ResponsibilitiesData Engineering & Azure Fabric

• Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Fabric Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Lakehouse/Warehouse.
• Integrate and unify data from accounting systems, ERP platforms, CRM systems, APIs, and cloud databases.
• Build semantic data models and subject-area data marts for finance, operations, and executive reporting.
• Implement automated workflows for recurring data ingestion, transformation, and processing.
• Maintain strong data quality processes, including data validation rules, exception handling, and pipeline monitoring.

Financial Analytics & Reporting

• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards for executive and financial teams (P&L trends, forecasting, cost-center performance, margins, cash flow).
• Build Excel-based models using advanced formulas, Power Query, Power Pivot, pivot tables, and scenario/what-if analysis.
• Support core finance functions, including:
• Budget vs. Actuals (BvA)
• Forecasting & trend modeling
• Cash flow reporting
• Expense analysis
• Revenue insights & profitability tracking
• AR/AP visibility & financial ratios
• Present findings to executive leadership with clear interpretation of financial impacts and ROI.
• Build KPI tracking for operational and financial performance (growth metrics, variance analysis, departmental performance).

Governance, Security & Compliance

• Maintain secure data handling practices across all Azure/Fabric workspaces.
• Document pipelines, models, data dictionaries, and data lineage.
• Ensure enterprise-level audit readiness across reporting and analytics environments.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years in Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Financial Analytics, or BI roles.
• Deep experience with:
• Microsoft Azure (Data Factory, Blob Storage, Azure SQL, Functions)
• Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse/Warehouse, Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2)
• Power BI (DAX, modeling, relationships, performance optimization)
• Excel (advanced formulas, Power Query, financial modeling, dashboards)
• Strong understanding of accounting and finance concepts, including cash flow, revenue analysis, forecasting, and cost structures.
• Proficiency in SQL and working knowledge of Python.
• Strong communication skills for working with business, finance, and executive teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ERP/accounting tools (QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Dynamics 365, Oracle, etc.).
• Certifications in Azure Data Engineering, Fabric Analytics, or Power BI.
• Experience with API integrations and cloud-based reporting systems.
• Experience in Agile or Scrum workflows.
• Based in Pakistan or the Middle East region (preferred due to cross-time-zone collaboration).

Contract Details

• Contract Type: 3-month renewable
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST
• Work Model: Fully remote
