We are seeking a creative and motivated Junior Designer with 1–3 years of experience to join our Product team. The ideal candidate brings a fresh, eager energy to the role, along with a strong foundation in technical footwear design. This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about product and innovation, ready to contribute to the design process from concept through execution while growing alongside a dynamic and collaborative team.

This role operates out of the Corporate HQ office in Sausalito, CA, in person office presence is required 4 days per week.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The design team at Freda Salvador are the pivotal starting point for the product creation process. Our Junior Designer has a thorough understanding of the Freda Salvador woman to interpret trends in the market and adapt them to appropriately support the vision for the brand product. Working closely with our design and product team members, the Junior Designer is able to bring a technical knowledge of our products to support the product creation process, from beginning tech pack to corrections to fit analysis. At Freda Salvador, we are a fast paced organization that encourages team members to take ownership over their responsibilities and manage their time accordingly. This role requires a person who is a strong self-starter, has a keen eye for trends with the ability to interpret and has strong technical skills in footwear, handbags and accessories.

This role operates out of the Corporate HQ office.

DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research market and fashion trends and provide insights in accordance with brand aesthetic to contribute prior to design kickoffs (color palettes, prints, materials etc).
  • Tech pack creation and management from concept to line samples for 4 seasons annually, including initial design creation, prototype / line sample correction execution, color CAD renderings and technical follow up through production.
  • Partner with the Product Development team to support fit sessions, taking ownership of detailed notes and photos, and recommending improvements in aesthetics, fit, and quality to ensure style approval by line sample stage.
  • Adhere to calendar deadlines and deliverables as set forth in the Critical Path, including time management and ownership over seasonal deliverable management.
  • Sketch and create technical drawings in Adobe Illustrator to provide clear design, fit, construction and cost details for manufacturing partners.
  • Upon receipt of all samples, review against technical packages prior to fit sessions to ensure details have been accurately followed. Prepare and communicate corrections needed for future prototypes.
  • Coordinate with the Product Development Manager to execute all detail sheets for four seasons annually.
  • Maintain and update line sheets, material summaries, and sample requests for cross-functional teams.
  • Create & maintain detailed product specification sheets for external manufacturing partners. Reports directly into the Chief Design Officer

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficiency in Google product suite, Adobe product Suite
  • Ability to interpret trends into relevancy for the Freda Salvador customer
  • Hand Sketching and digital sketching
  • Highly detail oriented
  • 1-3 years of experience in footwear and accessory design
  • Highly technical footwear and accessory knowledge and understanding
