Junior Designer — Fashion / Apparel
Location: Downtown Los Angeles (On-Site)
Reports to: Creative Director / COO
Position Type: Full-Time
Seniority: Junior (2-4 years experience)
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Junior Level Designer with strong apparel graphics experience. This role is hands-on and execution-focused — ideal for someone with strong technical skills, and production literacy. You will work to translate established visual direction into accurate, production-ready graphic assets for apparel, packaging, digital, and marketing channels. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, technical fluency, and the ability to refine or oversee junior-level work when needed.
Key Responsibilities
Apparel Graphics & Technical Execution
- Design high-quality apparel graphics including placement prints, all-over prints, brand marks, trims, labels, and packaging.
- Prepare production-ready files: vector artwork, color separations, scale adjustments, print specs, and mockups.
- Ensure production-ready files and technical specs meet factory standards (accuracy, cleanliness, compliance).
- Maintain strong organizational structure for file management, version control, and asset libraries.
- Apply graphics properly to garments, understanding construction, placement limitations, and proportions.
Production, Print Methods & Technical Fluency
- An understanding of print techniques, tech packs, CAD-building (flat sketches), and production constraints — including screen printing, embroidery, DTG/DTF, appliqué, patches, PMS color matching, resolution, and scale.
- Work with technical design and production teams to ensure graphics translate correctly in real-world production.
- Responsible for approvals with vendors during production — reviewing strike-offs, test prints, embroideries, and providing actionable feedback.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to files, print limitations, fabric application, or factory constraints.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the Senior Designers to execute existing visual direction — no conceptual direction ownership required.
- Collaborate with Production, Technical Design, E-Commerce, and Marketing teams to deploy graphics across channels.
- Adapt approved graphics into social media assets, web graphics, packaging, and campaign support materials.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
- 2-4+ years experience in graphic design for apparel, streetwear, or lifestyle brands.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe InDesign and vector/raster workflows.
- Strong portfolio showcasing apparel graphics, and production-ready files.
- Deep understanding of print production, materials, color theory, typography, and layout.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to handle fast-paced seasonal timelines.
- Ability to independently uphold high technical and visual standards.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive with feedback and revisions.
Preferred
- Experience communicating directly with printers, embroiderers, and production vendors.
- Ability to create structured flats/CADs for internal communication.
- Ability to guide junior creatives or freelancers when needed.
