Interior Design Assistant

We are a growing, design-driven interior design studio seeking a part-time Studio Assistant / Junior Designer to support residential projects from design development through execution. Looking for a highly organized, proactive candidate.

This role combines design support + project coordination. You will assist in sourcing, sample management, presentations, and overall project organization while helping ensure projects move forward smoothly.

You will work directly with the Principal Designer and play a key role in both the creative and execution phases of projects.

RESPONSIBILITIESDesign Development Support

• Source materials, finishes, furniture, and fixtures
• Order and track samples (fabric, stone, tile, etc.)
• Organize and prepare samples for client presentations
• Assist in creating mood boards and presentation decks
• Support design research and vendor outreach

Project Coordination

• Track procurement (orders, deliveries, timelines)
• Manage vendor communication and follow-ups
• Coordinate scheduling (clients, site visits, installations)
• Organize drawings, presentations, and project files
• Maintain spreadsheets and project trackers
• Assist during installation days (as needed)

REQUIREMENTS

• Background in interior design or architecture
• Strong eye for design and materials
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
• Proactive you take initiative, not just direction
• Strong communication skills (email + phone)
• Comfortable with Google Drive, spreadsheets, and presentations
• Based near Silver Spring for occasional in-person work

BONUS (PREFERRED)

• Experience sourcing materials or working with vendors
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Adobe InDesign
• Prior experience in a design studio
