Junior Engineer - Structural

Job Purpose:

To support structural design, documentation review and coordination activities under the guidance of the Senior Structural Engineer. The role assists in preparing and reviewing calculations drawings, resolving basic structural interfaces and supporting site-related technical checks, ensuring that structural deliverables progress accurately and in line with project requirements.

Key Accountabilities:

Structural Engineering Assistance

• Assist in preparing calculations, sketches and analysis summaries required for structural design.
• Review structural drawings and analysis models for alignment with engineering and authority requirements.
• Support senior engineers in updating design information, coordination notes and preparing Review tracker

Concept Design, Drawing & Detailing Review

• Check consultant and draftsman drawings for reinforcement accuracy and dimensional consistency.
• Prepare Analysis models corresponding to concept/Schematic level. Coordinate structural sizes with Architectural team for marketing layouts and Exception approvals.
• Prepare markups for corrections related to openings, penetrations or structural modifications.
• Highlight detailing inconsistencies early and escalate them to senior engineers for resolution.

Compliance with Codes & Authority Requirements

• Support the preparation of documents required for Sharjah Municipality submissions.
• Ensure that all structural updates reflect UAE building codes and project-specific standards.
• Assist in gathering required data, reports and drawings for technical clarifications.

Site Coordination Assistance

• Attend site visits with senior engineers to observe reinforcement placement, concrete works and structural installations.
• Capture site observations and prepare documentation for design review or contractor clarification.
• Follow up with site teams to verify closure of structural comments issued by the engineering team.

Cross-Discipline Coordination

• Coordinate with architectural and MEP teams on basic structural interface issues.
• Track required structural inputs to support updates of multidisciplinary drawings.
• Ensure updated structural information is shared promptly with concerned disciplines.

Engineering Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare structural logs, PTC summaries, Value Engineering reports, coordination reports for internal and consultant communication.

Educational Qualifications, Work Experience, and Skills Required:

Educational Qualification & Certifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• MTech is preferred
• SM/DM consultancy license is preferred.

Work Experience:

• 7-10 years structural engineering experience within UAE consultancy or developer environments.
• Experience reviewing structural drawings, reinforcement detailing and basic calculation checks.
• Exposure to site practices such as reinforcement inspection, Substructure activities, concrete works and structural coordination.

Skills Required:

• Structural analysis, concept design, client review of consultant’s deliverables and optimization.
• Production and evaluation of design packages as well as tender packages
• Prepare documents for Soil investigation such as Borehole layout. Review the Geo-Technical/Geo-Physical report till finalization of report.
• Interdisciplinary co-ordination.
• Participate in the external and internal technical meetings.
• Review of submissions related to Structural modifications of As built structures.
• Preparing specifications, concept design reports/drawings and other design documents.
• Submit concept/preconcept drawings in AutoCAD for coordination.
• Shall be conversant with Sharjah Municipality standards.
• Shall be familiar with Substructure works such as Shoring, Deep excavation, Foundation design options.
• Familiar to REVIT software for review and clash analysis.
