Job Purpose
The Junior Planning Engineer will be primarily responsible for updating project schedules, monitoring site progress, and preparing accurate reports that reflect project performance. This role focuses on reporting and coordination to ensure timely and reliable project status updates for management and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in updating and maintaining project schedules using Primavera P6 on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
- Gather and verify progress data (quantities, activities, manpower, and equipment usage) from construction site, engineers and subcontractors.
- Prepare and issue weekly and monthly progress reports, highlighting physical progress, delays, and performance trends.
- Generate and update dashboards, charts, and summary tables for management review.
- Support the Senior Planning Engineer in comparing actual progress against baseline schedules and identifying variances.
- Maintain and organize planning records such as progress logs, look-ahead programs, and performance charts.
- Assist in developing 2-week and 4-week look-ahead schedules in coordination with teams.
- Contribute to earned value and productivity analysis to evaluate work performance.
- Ensure reports are submitted on time and meet company and client reporting standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management.
- 3–7 years of relevant experience in planning or project control within the construction industry.
- Working knowledge of Primavera P6, MS Project and Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with progress measurement methods, WBS, and activity coding structures.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills for data handling and reporting.
- Good communication and coordination skills for interfacing with project and site teams.
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver reports within tight deadlines.
- Understanding of building construction sequencing and resource tracking.
