Junior VB6 + SQL Server Developer

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior VB6 + SQL Server Developer to join our software development team. The ideal candidate will assist in maintaining and enhancing legacy applications built in Visual Basic 6 (VB6) and integrated with Microsoft SQL Server databases. This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for software development and a willingness to work with both legacy and modern systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining and troubleshooting legacy VB6 desktop applications.
• Develop, test, and deploy stored procedures, functions, and SQL scripts in SQL Server.
• Collaborate with senior developers and business users to understand requirements and propose technical solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable code and assist with system documentation.
• Participate in data migration, performance tuning, and minor refactoring tasks.
• Perform basic QA and unit testing of own work.
• Learn and apply best practices in software development, version control, and error handling.

Qualifications

• Education:
• BS in IT / Computer Science / Software Engineering, OR
• B.Com / BBA, ICS with demonstrated programming/database skills.
• Technical Skills:
• Basic know how of Visual Basic 6 (VB6) OR Event Driven Programming.
• Familiarity with SQL Server, especially writing queries, joins, and stored procedures.
• Understanding of database normalization and basic optimization.
• Exposure to newer technologies (.NET, Python, etc.) is a bonus but not required.
• Soft Skills:
• Good problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Eagerness to learn and work in a legacy environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to manage time and priorities in a dynamic work environment.
