The Opportunity

We've been doing this for 11 years and in that time we've worked alongside videographers at all different skill levels -- some with years of experience, and some just getting started with a camera and a genuine interest in the craft.

The people who grow the fastest are the ones who are curious, coachable, and care about doing good work. That matters more to us than your gear list or having a perfect reel.

When you work on our projects, you get to help capture real stories for organizations doing meaningful work across the state. You walk away from a shoot knowing you helped promote good stuff happening in the world.

You also get to learn a craft that is in high demand. Interview-driven storytelling -- knowing how to stage, light, film, and support great on-camera interviews -- is one of the most consistently sought-after skills in video production. If you can do it well, you expand your opportunities anywhere. People who have worked with us over the years have gone on to grow their careers in larger markets like New York, Los Angeles, and Atlanta, and many have stayed connected with us along the way.

We're looking for a Junior Videographer to join our team on an as-needed basis. You'll work alongside our Producer and Cinematographer, learning the craft in a hands-on environment while contributing to real projects for real clients.

We hire for foundation and attitude. If you understand the basics of composition, exposure, and depth of field, and you love shooting video, we'll help you level up quickly.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with our Cinematographer and Producer to understand each project's story and goals
  • Operate cameras to capture clean, usable footage that serves the edit
  • Use gimbals and stabilization tools to achieve smooth, purposeful shots
  • Gather a thoughtful shot mix (wides, mediums, details) to support storytelling
  • Represent the team on set with kindness and professionalism
  • Offer creative ideas and problem-solve on location
  • Help care for, organize, and maintain production gear before, during, and after shoots

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • You know the fundamentals. You understand composition, exposure, focus, and basic camera operation, even if you're still building on these skills.
  • You're curious and coachable. You actively seek feedback and enjoy learning new tools and techniques. You don't need to know everything, you just need to want to get better.
  • You're reliable. You communicate clearly, show up on time and prepared, and can follow a shot list or work independently when needed.
  • You're good with people. You're calm, courteous, and collaborative on set.

Nice to Have (Bonus Points, Not Deal-Breakers)

  • Interview production or documentary-style filming experience
  • Prior experience in a support role on a film or video set
  • Familiarity with gimbals, audio, and on-set etiquette

Show Us What You've Got

We'd love to see anything that demonstrates your passion for video whether a short film, a reel, a personal project, or clips from a class.

Please don't hold back because you think your work isn't "good enough" yet. Some of the best people we've worked with started exactly where you might be right now.

Nature of the Role

  • Part-Time, As-Needed Employee (W-2): You are an employee of Betterme Productions with standard tax withholding. Hours are not guaranteed and will vary based on our production schedule — when a shoot comes up, we'll reach out and see if you're available.
  • Schedule: Shoots are scheduled in advance. Some weeks may have multiple shoot days; other weeks may have none. We'll always give you as much notice as possible and work around your availability.
  • Compensation: Hourly pay starting at $20/hour, discussed during the interview process.
