Junior Voice AI & Automation Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for a technically driven Junior Voice AI & Automation Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain AI-powered voice agents on platforms such as Vapi and Retell AI, while also architecting automation workflows across GoHighLevel (GHL), n8n, Zapier, and Make.com. You will work closely with the AI Solutions Lead to deliver production-grade systems that handle real phone conversations and streamline business operations end-to-end.

This is a hands-on, execution-focused role. You are expected to move fast, iterate with precision, and take ownership of your deliverables from day one.

Key Responsibilities

Voice Agent Development

  • Design and deploy AI voice agents on Vapi and Retell AI for inbound and outbound call use cases.
  • Write, test, and optimize system prompts for real-time voice interactions with a focus on low latency and natural conversation flow.
  • Configure call flows, dynamic variables, webhooks, and function calling within Vapi and Retell AI platforms.
  • Integrate voice agents with CRMs, databases, and third-party APIs to enable real-time data operations during calls.
  • Debug live voice agent issues including interruption handling, transcription errors, and call recovery scenarios.

Automation & Workflow Engineering

  • Build and maintain multi-step automation workflows using n8n, Make.com (Integromat), and Zapier.
  • Develop GHL (GoHighLevel) pipelines including sub-accounts, workflows, triggers, and custom values.
  • Connect voice agents to automation stacks to enable post-call actions such as CRM updates, follow-up sequences, and reporting.
  • Implement error handling, retry logic, and data validation within automation flows.
  • Document all workflows and integrations for team knowledge transfer and maintenance.

Quality Assurance & Optimization

  • Monitor agent performance, call completion rates, and automation success metrics.
  • Conduct structured testing of voice flows before production deployment.
  • Continuously improve prompt quality and conversation logic based on real call data.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Voice AI Platforms

  • Vapi AI: Hands-on exposure to agent configuration, prompt design, phone number provisioning, and webhook setup.
  • Retell AI: Hands-on exposure to LLM node setup, multi-prompt agents, and call state management.
  • Working knowledge of prompt engineering principles for voice-first interactions.

Automation Platforms

  • n8n: Proficiency in building complex multi-step workflows, HTTP requests, and conditional logic.
  • Make.com (Integromat): Working knowledge of scenario design, module chaining, and error handling.
  • Zapier: Familiarity with Zap creation, multi-step workflows, and Zapier Tables/Interfaces.
  • GoHighLevel (GHL): Experience with workflow automation, custom triggers, pipeline management, and webhook integration.

Technical Foundations

  • Solid understanding of REST APIs, JSON payloads, and webhook mechanics.
  • Basic scripting ability in JavaScript or Python for custom automation logic.
  • Familiarity with LLM concepts including system prompts, temperature, and function/tool calling.
  • Ability to read and interpret API documentation independently.

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience deploying voice agents in a production environment.
  • Exposure to ElevenLabs, Deepgram, or other TTS/STT providers.
  • Knowledge of OpenAI or Anthropic function calling schemas.
  • Experience with CRM integrations such as HubSpot, Salesforce, or GHL.
  • Familiarity with GPT-4.1 or Claude prompting best practices for agentic workflows.
  • Basic understanding of telephony concepts (SIP, PSTN, call routing).
