Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Desktop Support Technician to provide comprehensive IT support within our organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting hardware and software issues, managing computer systems, and ensuring seamless operation of our IT infrastructure. This role requires excellent customer service skills, technical expertise, and the ability to communicate effectively with users at all levels. The Desktop Support Technician will play a critical role in maintaining the efficiency and security of our computer systems across various operating environments including Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
  • Resolve software issues related to operating systems, applications (including Microsoft Office), and network connectivity.
  • Manage computer hardware installations, upgrades, and repairs to ensure optimal performance.
  • Assist users with VPN configurations, firewall settings, DNS issues, and TCP/IP network problems.
  • Support Active Directory management, user account setup, permissions, and password resets.
  • Utilize SCCM, BMC Remedy, ServiceNow, and Jira for ticketing, asset management, and issue tracking.
  • Maintain IT infrastructure components such as LAN/WAN networks, network administration tasks, and server environments including Windows Server and Linux systems.
  • Configure and support network devices including switches, routers, and firewalls to ensure secure connectivity.
  • Support remote access solutions and help desk operations to deliver prompt customer service.
  • Document technical procedures and maintain accurate records of support activities.
  • Collaborate with IT team members to implement system upgrades and security patches.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in desktop support or IT support roles with strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in operating systems including Windows (Windows 10/11), macOS, and Linux distributions.
  • Knowledge of computer networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, LAN/WAN configuration, VPNs, firewalls, and network security best practices.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and other common productivity tools.
  • Experience with Active Directory management and Windows Server environments is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with SCCM, BMC Remedy, ServiceNow, Jira or similar ticketing systems.
  • Strong analysis skills with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively assist users at all skill levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), or similar are a plus.
