Key Account Manager – Commercial Risk / General Lines

Location: Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia


Abou the Role:

The client-facing Key Account Manager is responsible for managing and growing relationships with key commercial clients , ensuring their needs are met and that they receive exceptional service. The role combines strategic planning, client relationship management, and coordination with internal teams to deliver tailored insurance and risk solutions within the Kingdom and as part of Aon’s global network.

The role holder acts as the primary point of contact for designated key accounts with accountability for client retention, revenue growth, and overall client satisfaction .


Key Responsibilities

Client Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key commercial and corporate clients.
  • Act as the primary contact, ensuring a deep understanding of clients’ operations, strategic objectives, and risk profiles.
  • Translate client needs into appropriate insurance and risk management solutions .
  • Plan and lead regular client review meetings and stewardship sessions.


Sales & Business Development

  • Identify and pursue cross-selling and upselling opportunities across Commercial Risk / General Lines.
  • Support New Business teams in prospecting, proposal development, client presentations, and pitch support .
  • Contribute to account planning, sales pipelines, and revenue forecasts in line with business targets.


Account Management & Renewals

  • Lead and coordinate the renewal process for assigned accounts, including coverage review, gap analysis, and recommendation of enhancements.
  • Ensure all placements and renewals comply with local legal, regulatory, and Aon internal requirements .
  • Oversee the timely and accurate issuance of documentation (quotations, binders, policies, endorsements).
  • Maintain accurate and current client information and activities in CRM and relevant internal systems .


Internal Coordination & Collaboration

  • Work closely with claims, broking/placement, finance, and technical teams to deliver on service commitments and client expectations.
  • Coordinate internal resources to develop tailored solutions, service plans, and proposals.
  • Represent the voice of the client internally, driving continuous service and process improvements.


Market & Competitor Insight

  • Monitor market trends, pricing dynamics, customer trends, and competitor activity in the Saudi and regional markets.
  • Prepare and deliver market reports, presentations, and recommendations for clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide structured feedback to support product development, pricing strategies, and broader commercial initiatives.


Claims & Issue Resolution

  • Partner with the claims team to support clients throughout the claims lifecycle.
  • Assist with escalations and complex issues, ensuring timely and professional resolution.
  • Keep clients informed of claim status, key developments, and outcomes.


Performance & Reporting

  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as retention, growth, profitability, and client satisfaction for allocated accounts.
  • Contribute to business reviews, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for operational efficiency and service excellence .



Qualifications & Experience:


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher is required.
  • Preferred disciplines: Insurance, Risk Management, Risk Engineering, Actuarial Science , or a related field.
  • Professional Experience

    • 5–10 years of proven experience in account management within the insurance industry .
    • Solid experience in Commercial Risk / General Lines (e.g., Property, Casualty, Motor Fleet, Liability, etc.).
    • Experience within the Saudi or broader GCC insurance market is strongly preferred.


    Professional Certifications

    • Professional insurance qualifications preferred, such as:
    • ACII (Chartered Insurance Institute – UK)
    • CIP (Chartered Insurance Professional – UK)
    • Or other recognized regional/international insurance designations.


    Language Skills

    • Fluency in Arabic and English (spoken and written) is required.


    Technical Skills

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
    • Experience working with CRM systems and client management tools.

    • Client Focus & Relationship Management: Proven ability to build, maintain, and grow senior client relationships.
    • Commercial Insurance Expertise: Strong understanding of Commercial Risk / General Lines products, policy wordings, and risk placement.
    • Strategic & Analytical Thinking: Ability to develop account plans, interpret market information, and translate insights into recommendations.
    • Sales & Negotiation: Strong communication and negotiation skills to drive cross-sell, upsell, and renewal outcomes.
    • Collaboration & Influence: Effective at working across functions (claims, finance, broking, technical teams) and influencing without direct authority.
    • Problem Solving & Decision Making: Structured approach to resolving client issues, particularly in claims and service escalations.
    • Attention to Detail & Compliance: High standard of accuracy in documentation and strong awareness of regulatory and compliance requirements in KSA.
    • Ownership & Self-Management: Demonstrated accountability, proactive approach, and ability to operate with minimal supervision.


    Saudi Arabia

    Employment for this position is based in Al Khobar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and is governed by all applicable Saudi labor laws and regulations. The role is a full-time position, with working hours and patterns aligned to Aon’s policies and local statutory requirements. Compensation and benefits will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience, qualifications, and internal equity, and may include a fixed salary, performance-related incentives, and benefits in accordance with Aon’s local policies. Appointment to this role is subject to the successful completion of any required background checks, reference checks, and verification of the candidate’s eligibility to work in Saudi Arabia.
