The Kitchen Equipment Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial kitchen equipment to ensure smooth and uninterrupted kitchen operations. The role requires strong technical skills, attention to safety standards, and quick response to equipment breakdowns.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, inspect, maintain, and repair commercial kitchen equipment such as ovens, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, mixers, fryers, and coffee machines.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults and carry out effective repairs.
- Perform preventive maintenance as per scheduled plans to minimize downtime.
- Ensure all equipment complies with safety, health, and hygiene standards.
- Maintain proper records of maintenance activities, repairs, and spare parts used.
- Coordinate with kitchen and operations teams to prioritize urgent repairs.
- Handle basic plumbing and electrical work related to kitchen equipment.
- Manage spare parts inventory and recommend procurement when required.
- Ensure tools and work areas are kept clean and safe.
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns.
Requirements:
- Diploma/Technical certification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Refrigeration & HVAC.
- Proven experience as a Kitchen Equipment Technician or similar role in hotels, restaurants, catering, or food production facilities.
- Strong knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment operation and repair.
- Basic understanding of electrical wiring, refrigeration systems, and gas equipment.
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and food industry standards.
- Physically fit and able to handle tools and heavy equipment.
