Key Responsibilities


Key responsibilities and day to day responsibilities of this position:

  • Supervises subordinate personnel
  • Manage food production for 3 meals a day for approximately 75 people
  • Coordinate with Foodservice Manager for procuring kitchen equipment, food ordering, menu development, and food delivery to individuals
  • During the work week, manage the production and delivery of freezer meals for the weekend meals and holiday meals
  • Kitchen organization and cleanliness
  • Oversee and manage following food safety protocols
  • Refine cooking tasks to improve time and efficiency


Qualifications


Minimum or "day-one" qualifications:

  • Cooking experience and recipe development experience
  • Basic knowledge of the principles of dietetics/nutrition
  • Experience supervising, training and evaluating employee proficiency and efficiency
  • The ability to speak, read and write English and follow written and oral directions

Preferred or trainable/on-the-job qualifications:

  • Food Service Supervisor Certificate / ServSafe Certification
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in food preparation, sanitation, inventory rotation, large scale ordering, record keeping, safety, and deep-clean scheduling/tracking
  • Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time

About the Role

This is a supervisory level job. Incumbent supervises preparation and serving of food and assists in the overall management of a food program for a state institution. This includes planning and preparing daily menus for clients and staff as well. May also supervise patient health throughout the institution.
