Responsibilities :
· Own & Resolve: Handle a higher-tier ticket queue, resolving complex L1 incidents and executing defined L2 procedures for RHEL 9 and VMware environments with minimal supervision.
· Advanced Troubleshooting: Perform in-depth log analysis, diagnose performance bottlenecks (CPU, memory, I/O), troubleshoot network connectivity (firewalld, ss, tcpdump), and manage basic SELinux contexts.
· VMware Administration: Execute standard VM operations (provisioning, cloning, templates), manage resources (vCPU, RAM, disk), troubleshoot VMware Tools and VM networking, and assist with vMotion/DRS events.
· Process & Knowledge Leadership: Create, update, and improve operational runbooks and knowledge base articles. Participate in post-incident reviews and contribute to problem management.
· Mentorship: Provide guidance and knowledge sharing to newer L1 team members, helping to uplift the entire team's capability.
Automation & Improvement: Identify repetitive tasks and contribute to scripting solutions (using Bash, Python, or Ansible) to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
Requirements:
· 3+ years of hands-on experience in a technical support, systems administration, or NOC role supporting Linux servers in a production environment.
· Proven RHEL/CentOS/AlmaLinux Skills:
o Strong command-line fluency: systemd service management, package management (dnf, yum), log interrogation, user/group security, and filesystem management.
o Practical experience with networking, bonding, firewall-cmd, and basic troubleshooting.
· Proven VMware vSphere Experience:
o Daily operational use of vSphere Client for VM lifecycle management.
o Understanding of ESXi host basics, datastores, and virtual networking (vSwitches, port groups).
· Systematic Problem-Solver: You use a logical, data-driven approach to diagnose issues, not just trial-and-error.
· Excellent Communicator: Ability to translate technical details for both engineers and business stakeholders. Strong written documentation skills.
Required Skills:
· RHCSA certification (or equivalent hands-on skill level).
· Experience with infrastructure monitoring/alerting tools (Zabbix, Nagios, SolarWinds, Grafana).
· Basic scripting for automation (Bash shell scripting is a strong plus).
· Exposure to configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet).
· Understanding of core storage concepts (SAN, NFS, iSCSI) and how they present to RHEL/VMware.
· Familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change).
