Remex Medical Centre is seeking a dedicated and experienced Laboratory Technician who demonstrates strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and leadership capabilities. The ideal candidate will ensure the accurate performance of laboratory tests, maintain quality control, and take initiative in supervising or mentoring junior staff to uphold the highest standards of laboratory excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical & Operational Duties:
- Conduct routine and specialized laboratory tests in hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, serology, and urinalysis.
- Ensure accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of all laboratory results.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Perform quality control checks and participate in internal and external quality assurance programs.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of laboratory procedures, test results, and patient data.
- Follow all safety, infection control, and waste management protocols.
Leadership & Team Support:
- Supervise and mentor junior laboratory staff, interns, and trainees.
- Lead by example in maintaining professionalism, teamwork, and integrity.
- Assist the Laboratory Manager in workflow planning, staff scheduling, and workload distribution.
- Provide technical guidance and training on new testing methods or updated protocols.
- Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and high performance within the laboratory.
- Communicate effectively with clinicians, nurses, and administrative teams to ensure efficient service delivery.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field.
- Valid registration with relevant medical laboratory council or authority.
- Minimum 3–5 years of laboratory experience, preferably in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience is an advantage.
- Excellent knowledge of laboratory instruments, safety procedures, and quality assurance systems.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure.
- Proficient in the use of Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Microsoft Office tools.
