Job Summary and Qualifications

The manager is responsible for integrating their department’s services with the hospitals primary functions.

Coordinates and integrates services within their department(s) and with other departments.

The manager develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services.

Recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care/service and assures the qualifications and competence of those staff members (who are not licensed independent practitioners) meet the needs of patient care and non-patient care services.

The manager provides orientation, in-service training, and continuing education of all persons in the department(s).

Continuously assesses and improves the department’s performance and maintains appropriate quality control programs.

Recommends space and other resources needed by the department and participates in selecting outside resources needed by the department(s).

Demonstrates professional work habits and interpersonal skills.

What qualifications you will need:

Education: Dependent on area of responsibility: associate degree or bachelor's degree in histotechnology or related science required OR bachelor's degree in medical technology or related science required OR bachelor's degree in cytotechnology or related science required AND Completion of professional education and training required.

License /Certifications: ASCP certification or equivalent preferred

Experience: A minimum of 5 year's experience in the technical area required. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
