  • Establish and Operate the Laboratory: Set up, organize, and manage the temporary on-site laboratory according to project needs and international standards (e.g., ASTM, BS, ISO).
  • Equipment Management: Ensure all laboratory equipment (e.g., compression machines, sieves, density apparatus) is properly calibrated, maintained, and verified before use.
  • Supervision: Supervise and train laboratory technicians and assistants to ensure accurate and consistent execution of all testing procedures.
  • Inventory: Manage the inventory of testing supplies, chemicals, and consumables required for continuous operation.
  • Sampling and Testing: Schedule and perform routine and non-routine sampling and testing of core construction materials, including but not limited to:
    Concrete: Slump tests, casting cubes/cylinders, compression strength testing.
    Soil & Earthworks: Compaction tests (Proctor), density tests (Sand Cone/Nuclear), moisture content, and bearing capacity tests.
    Aggregates: Sieve analysis, specific gravity, and abrasion tests.
    Asphalt/Bitumen (if applicable): Density, extraction, and binder content.
  • Witnessing: Witness third-party independent laboratory testing and verify their results.
  • Non-Conformance: Identify and report Non-Conforming Materials (NCMs) immediately. Investigate the root cause of material failures and propose corrective actions.
  • Material Submittals: Assist the QA/QC team in preparing, reviewing, and tracking all Material Submittals to the client/consultant for approval.
  • Inspection: Participate in the incoming inspection of all delivered materials on site, checking quantity, damage, and compliance with the approved submittals and specifications.
  • Storage: Ensure materials are stored correctly and protected from damage or contamination as per manufacturer recommendations and project quality plans.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain meticulous, accurate, and organized records of all material tests, results, and material certification reports.
  • Reporting: Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly Material Quality Reports summarizing testing activities, compliance status, and any quality issues.
  • Compliance: Ensure all testing documentation is complete, traceable, and ready for audits and the final project handover dossier.
