Land Acquisition Intern

Position Summary:

The Land Intern will support the team by building, maintaining, and organizing the land opportunity database, including mapping, filing systems, and term sheet updates for active projects. The intern will develop an understanding of how to create accurate CMAs and evaluate how our product can be differentiated from competing communities. Through attendance at land negotiations, seller meetings, engineering discussions, legal meetings, and city meetings, the intern will gain exposure to the wide range of skills and collaboration required throughout the land acquisition process.

The program will be in session from June 8 – July 31 and based in Austin, TX.


Job Duties:

General Responsibilities:

  • Create project profiles and term sheets with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Prepare CMAs through data entry, analysis, and documentation of relevant project and market information.
  • Conduct market data research using sources such as Bohlke, Zonda, Zillow, and other industry tools.

Learning Opportunities:

  • Exposure to legal, landowner, and engineering meetings to gain insight into cross-functional collaboration during the development process.
  • Access to proprietary pro formas, CMAs, and Zonda data to build familiarity with key tools and resources used in project evaluation.
  • Opportunity to take ownership of one project in the acquisition phase and follow its progress through tracking and reporting.


Key Qualifications

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with mapping, GIS, or other technology-based tools that support efficient project data tracking.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with different teams.


Special Projects:

Interns will actively participate in projects within their team and department, contributing to real business initiatives throughout the program. In addition, each intern will be responsible for completing a final project at the end of the internship, showcasing the skills, knowledge, and insights they have gained, as well as highlighting their contributions to the organization.


Compensation:

The hourly rate for this role is $20.00, with wages paid on a bi-weekly basis.

Physical Requirements:

This is primarily a sedentary position. Requires the ability to hear, type and talk. Finger dexterity is required to operate a computer keyboard. The primary work location is a corporate office with low to moderate noise levels. Appropriate business apparel and professional appearance are expected.
