Land Supervisor - Midland Basin North

The Land Supervisor leads the Land Team on all development activities within a designated area. The individual will focus on all current and prospective land matters, including collaboration with interdisciplinary teams of engineers, geoscientists, regulatory and legal personnel, among others. This person will focus on providing all necessary land support in the execution of assigned Asset and Land Teams’ goals. Additional responsibilities include personnel management responsibilities such as evaluating performance, coaching, and training.

Essential Roles & Responsibilities:

  • In addition to the technical responsibilities of a Level V landman, the supervisor is also responsible for the following:
  • Supervise and lead due diligence efforts in the acquisition and divestitures of producing and non-producing assets, settle surface related issues, negotiate all commercial and business-related terms associated with the purchase, trade and/or sale of assets within the assigned geographic area
  • Supervise land staff (including Landmen and Land techs), providing appropriate guidance and mentoring for career development purposes
  • Work with internal and external partners on legal issues, regulatory matters, exploration and production issues, gas marketing and lease record/division order issues
  • Actively manage capital and G&A annual budgets
  • Strategize with key asset team members on implementing a growth strategy that will support corporate, regional and asset team goals
  • Make personnel recommendations to Land Manager on hiring, promotions, and/or organizational movement of personnel
  • Conduct business with the highest
  • ethical standards and make decisions that ensure the safety of all persons associated with SM facilities

Computer/Software Applications:

  • Proficient level of skill in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, Quorum, PRA, Aucerna Execute and Enverus.

Role-Specific Technical Knowledge & Skills:

  • Proficient knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations. Understanding of land management principles including negotiations, contracts, leasing, and titles (i.e., title, JOA’s, oil and gas leases, curative documents, surface/mineral permits). Proficient at negotiating, constructing, and presenting commercial and business contracts and leases. Proficient understanding and knowledge of acquisition/divestiture economic metrics.

Typical Education:

  • B.B.A. degree in Energy Management, Land Management or other Business degree; Certified Professional Landman status preferred.

Typical Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years of industry work experience
