Job Responsibilities:
- Assist the lead surveyor in conducting field surveys using equipment such as total stations, GPS receivers, and levels.
- Set up, operate, and break down surveying instruments and tools on job sites.
- Support data collection of topographic features, boundary markers, elevations, and other site-specific details.
- Mark and stake out survey points, boundaries, and construction references under supervision.
- Help in maintaining clear and accurate field notes and records.
- Transport, maintain, and calibrate surveying equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist with downloading and organizing field data for processing.
- Follow safety procedures and guidelines while working in various terrain and weather conditions.
- Collaborate with crew members, engineers, and other project personnel.
- Support research of land records and maps when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the survey crew chief or lead surveyor.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or equivalent required; coursework or certification in surveying or geomatics is a plus.
- 1+ year of experience in a surveying or construction environment preferred.
- Familiarity with surveying tools and methods (training will be provided).
- Basic understanding of measurements, math, and map reading.
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and carry equipment (up to 50 lbs).
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites.
- Willingness to learn and grow in the surveying profession.
