SUMMARY: The Seasonal Landscape and Grounds Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine landscaping, groundskeeping, and exterior maintenance tasks to ensure a clean, safe, and attractive environment. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the overall appearance and usability of outdoor spaces during peak growing and activity seasons. Seasonal employment typically from May to September; hours may vary.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain lawns, gardens, flower beds, trees, shrubs, and other landscape features through mowing, edging, trimming, weeding, mulching, fertilizing, and pruning.
  • Operate landscaping tools and equipment such as lawn mowers, weed trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, and irrigation systems.
  • Perform general grounds maintenance including litter removal, snow removal, sidewalk sweeping, and upkeep of walkways, parking lots, and common areas.
  • Assist in planting and seasonal changes to landscape designs (spring/summer planting, fall clean-up, etc.).
  • Set up and take down outdoor equipment, signage, or furniture as needed for events or maintenance projects.
  • Performs routine cleaning and maintenance on gardening and grounds equipment.
  • Monitor and report any safety hazards or maintenance needs (e.g., damaged walkways, broken irrigation lines, pest infestations).
  • Follow all safety guidelines and use appropriate protective equipment when performing tasks.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Graduate or GED preferred.


REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Prior experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, or outdoor labor preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools, lawn care equipment, and small machinery.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and performing physically demanding work (lifting, bending, standing, walking).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required depending on position and responsibilities.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
