We answer 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls and dispatch resources using state-of-the-art technology.COME JOIN OUR TEAM!We are seeking strong team players who effectively communicate, are proficient with advancing technology, and can multitask and quickly adapt to change.ABOUT THE CAREERPeoria Police Communication Specialists are cross trained as call takers and radio dispatchers. They answer emergency and non-emergency calls using a multi-line telephone and 9-1-1 systems. Responsibilities include receiving, processing, and dispatching calls for service and providing information to personnel. This position requires shift work, and all employees must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as required. Also, lateral, full-time 911 Dispatchers have the ability to earn paid time off (up to 80 hours) based on previous experience in the same job function through our Award Leave program, if eligible. Medical Examination and Drug ScreenApplicants must pass a drug screen and vision and hearing tests. Eyesight corrected to 20/20 and hearing in both ears not less than 40db. Psychological ScreeningA battery of psychological tests shall be administered, and the tests will be evaluated by a licensed psychologist and used in conjunction with a personal interview to evaluate the applicant and determine their suitability for employment.
