Laundry Attendant

Position Summary

The Laundry Attendant plays a critical role in supporting resident dignity, comfort, and infection prevention standards by ensuring that all personal and community linens are cleaned, handled, and distributed in accordance with established protocols.

This position requires attention to detail, efficiency, and a commitment to serving older adults with compassion and respect.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold, and distribute resident clothing and community linens.
• Follow infection control and OSHA guidelines for handling soiled linens.
• Identify and appropriately treat stained items.
• Maintain separation of resident-specific clothing to ensure proper return.
• Operate and maintain commercial laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
• Monitor laundry supplies and notify supervisor when inventory is low.
• Keep laundry areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
• Report damaged equipment or safety concerns promptly.
• Provide courteous and respectful interactions with residents, families, and team members.
• Maintain regular and timely attendance.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior laundry or housekeeping experience preferred, especially in healthcare or senior living.
• Ability to read labels and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Basic understanding of infection control practices preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrates reliability, accountability, and professionalism.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
• Frequent bending, lifting, and carrying up to 40–50 pounds.
• Ability to push/pull laundry carts.
• Tolerance for warm and humid working conditions.
