Law & Motion Appeal Attorney

Position: 1 Direct Hire - Onsite

Schedule: Monday - Friday | 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM PT

We are seeking a Law & Motion Appeal Attorney to draft appellate briefs, motions, and complex pleadings for CAPIC litigated matters. The attorney will provide advice and support to trial attorneys, ensure preservation of the record for appeal, and handle appellate issues efficiently.

This is a 100% onsite role in Orange, CA.

Key Responsibilities

Appeals:

• Designate, review, and analyze lower court records and documents
• Monitor appellate dockets and deadlines
• Research and analyze case law and draft persuasive appellate briefs, motions, and applications
• Advocate in appellate courts before justices
• Advise trial attorneys and claims specialists regarding writ petitions and appellate strategy
• Assist in framing issues at trial and preserving the record for appeal
  
  

Law & Motion Support:

• Prepare pleadings and motions
• Provide litigation support to attorneys for trial and arbitration
• Formulate creative pleading and motion strategies
• Obtain concurrence from claims specialists and attorneys for law and motion strategy
• Attend court appearances and argue motions
• Ensure compliance with Defense Attorney Guidelines
  
  

Other Duties:

• Perform other duties as necessary to support litigation and appellate practice
  
  

Required Qualifications

• J.D. degree from an accredited law school
• Active California Bar license
• Experience drafting appellate briefs, motions, and pleadings
• Knowledge of trial and appellate court procedures in medical malpractice defense
• Strong legal research and writing skills
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines
