Position Summary
The Lawn Care Specialist is responsible for delivering lawn care services, including aeration and seeding, tree and shrub care, and other related treatments. This role involves applying fertilizers, insecticides, fungicides, and herbicides using both hand-held and powered equipment in a timely and efficient manner.
Primary Responsibilities
- Apply fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and perform aeration and seeding for weed and pest control
- Work independently or as part of a team to service assigned properties along a designated route
- Follow all applicable state and federal regulations, as well as company policies and procedures
- Manage daily routes and accurately document services using mobile devices
- Conduct thorough property inspections and provide recommendations to address lawn and landscape concerns
- Communicate with customers to understand needs, address concerns, and recommend additional services
- Maintain company vehicles and equipment according to guidelines
- Assist with training new team members
- Support general upkeep and cleanliness of the facility and grounds
- Work outside normal hours when necessary, including overtime
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to all safety and PPE requirements
- Lead and manage a lawn aeration crew, ensuring safe transport of team members and equipment to job sites
- Perform final inspections to ensure work is completed accurately and thoroughly, the property is clean, and no damage has occurred
Required Qualifications
- Ability to obtain a VDACS Registered Technician certification within 30 days of hire (training and fees provided)
- Ability to safely operate a truck and trailer
- Ability to work between 6:30 AM and 5:30 PM (or until work is completed)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to operate vehicles and equipment safely while complying with all laws and company policies
- Must meet insurability requirements
- Ability to work long hours and drive extended distances
- Ability to stand, sit, stoop, kneel, push, lift, carry, and move items up to 50 pounds
- Ability to walk long distances and work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Must be at least 20 years of age
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 0–2 years of experience in a customer service or related field
- Previous lawn care experience preferred
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
