The Child Care Lead Teacher is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Wellness Center Child Care Service including: preparing developmentally appropriate classroom environments, planning and implementing lesson plans based on the knowledge of each child’s development and the North Dakota Early Learning Guidelines, and providing direct care for children. This position will assist with the leadership and supervision of part-time and student staff. This individual will promote home/center relations and partner with families. The Child Care Lead Teacher will assist in supervising the safe operation of the Child Care Service and will model and promote customer service, teamwork,

Work Schedule:

Monday- Friday 8:30 am -5:30 pm Fall and Spring Semester

Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm Summer Semester

Office Hours 7:30-4:00 During Breaks

Hiring Range:

$41,000 to $42,500+ DOE

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development/Human Development and Family Science or related field and 1 year experience working with children ages 6 weeks to 5 years;
    • OR Associate's degree and 3 years’ experience working with children ages 6 weeks to 5 years,
    • OR no degree but with 6 years’ experience working with children ages 6 weeks to 5 years.


  • Ability to work effectively with children and family members from a variety of backgrounds
  • Strong organization and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education /Child Development/Human Development and Family Science, Early Childhood Special Education or related field.

  • Adult and Pediatric First Aid /CPR/AED certified
  • Experience working with drop-off child care
  • Demonstrated successful supervisory experience in a childcare setting
  • Experience using Teaching Strategies Gold assessment
