The Lead Data Architect will play a pivotal role in shaping the data strategy and architecture for the whole of AWM. This position requires a deep understanding of data management principles, data modeling, and data integration techniques with the ability to leverage agentic solution to speed delivery. The ideal candidate will have hands on 5+ years of experience in data architecture or relevant equivalent experience, with a proven track record of designing scalable and efficient data solutions.
Job responsibilities

Design and implement data architecture solutions that align with business objectives and technology strategies.

Develop and maintain data models, data flow diagrams, and data dictionaries to support business processes.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data systems and platforms.

Provide guidance and mentorship to junior data architects and data engineers.

Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation in data architecture.

Develop and enforce data governance policies and best practices.

Conduct performance tuning and optimization of data systems to ensure high availability and scalability.

Work closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities for data-driven improvements and efficiencies.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Formal training or certification on Data Architecture and software engineering and relevant 5+ years of applied experience.
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability

Advanced knowledge of architecture and one or more programming languages

Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
- Proficiency in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle

Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems

Practical cloud native experience

Advanced knowledge of one or more software, application, and architecture disciplines

Ability to evaluate current and emerging technologies to recommend the best data architecture solutions for the future state architecture
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

8-10 years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, and data integration or relevant equivalent

Strong expertise in database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Oracle, MongoDB).

Proficiency in data warehouse. Data lake, Lake House, Data Mesh, or Data Fabric architectures.

Understanding and/or experience with streaming and/or batch data movement including ELT/ ETL processes and tooling (Informatica, Pentaho, DBT, Glue)

Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Proven experience in leading data architecture projects and initiatives.

Familiarity with data governance frameworks and practices.
