Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of dental assistants, ensuring smooth clinic operations and adherence to protocols.
- Assist dentists during various procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, utilizing chairside assisting skills.
- Manage electronic medical records and dental documentation using Opendental management software
- Perform vital signs assessment, medical imaging (including X-ray and 3D scanner), and maintain aseptic technique to uphold infection control standards.
- Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral health practices while addressing their questions with professionalism and empathy.
- Oversee infection control protocols, sterilization processes, and maintain a clean clinical environment in accordance with OSHA guidelines.
- Collaborate with the dental reception team to schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and handle medical coding for billing purposes.
- Support training and mentorship of new or junior staff in dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, medical terminology, and clinic procedures.
Experience
- Previous experience as a lead assistant is preferred. Minimum of 3 years as a dental assistant
- Demonstrated proficiency with dental software such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Opendental for managing medical records and documentation.
- Extensive knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures.
- Skilled in taking X-rays (including digital radiography) and operating advanced imaging equipment like 3D scanners.
- Familiarity with medical documentation standards including HIPAA compliance and medical coding practices related to dental procedures.
- Ability to lead a team effectively while maintaining excellent communication skills with patients and staff alike.
- Certification as a Dental Assistant with additional training or experience in chairside assisting for pediatric patients preferred. Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
