ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Clerk of the Illinois Supreme Court seeks a highly motivated individual to review and file bar admission cases and motions in compliance with Supreme Court rules. Provides information to attorneys, law clerks, and judges regarding Supreme Court policies and procedures. The Lead Deputy Clerk is responsible for the preparation of the semiannual law class for admission to the bar in the five judicial districts, organizes the distribution and collection of Illinois attorney oaths, collects law license fees, prepares law licenses to those who have been admitted to the Illinois bar, and prepares and issues certificates of admission to attorneys as requested. Additionally, the Leady Deputy Clerk will draft correspondence and memoranda consistent with Supreme Court rules, communicate with justices' secretaries and law clerks, and prepare draft orders for judicial appointments and assignments. Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities is required.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Individual must be motivated, detail-oriented, and possess excellent word processing skills. Candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills, the ability to multitask, meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities, work independently, and maintain confidential information. Skill in the use of a computer keyboard to access and enter data into the case management system. Must possess excellent written/verbal communication, comprehension and organizational skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
A minimum of three years of work experience in an office environment, preferably a legal setting and an associate’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
