Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Lead Game Designer to define the creative vision and gameplay systems for our projects. This role involves producing full Game Design Documents (GDDs), breaking down features, designing progression and reward systems, and creating playable prototypes. The Lead Game Designer acts as a bridge between creative ideas and engineering constraints, ensuring the game is fun, engaging, and well-balanced.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce comprehensive Game Design Documents outlining features, systems, and mechanics
  • Create UX flows, progression systems, reward structures, and player motivation strategies
  • Design addiction and fun elements to maximize player engagement
  • Build playable prototypes to test and iterate on gameplay concepts
  • Collaborate with engineering and art teams to ensure creative vision aligns with technical feasibility
  • Define and enforce design standards and best practices across the project
  • Analyze gameplay metrics and player feedback to refine systems and mechanics
  • Mentor and guide junior designers

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Game Designer, preferably in a lead role
  • Strong ability to create Game Design Documents, feature breakdowns, and UX flows
  • Experience designing progression systems, reward systems, and player motivation mechanics
  • Ability to translate creative concepts into engineer-friendly specifications
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of player psychology, engagement, and game balance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with playable prototyping tools (Unreal Engine, Unity, or similar)
  • Familiarity with analytics-driven design
  • Prior experience in AAA or complex game projects
