Creates, revises, and manipulates the format of forms, business cards, brochures, labels, decals, certificates, posters, and all other related documents using industry standard desktop publishing applications. Prepares and reviews job tickets, print samples, and metal plates for proper layout and accurate printing and bindery instructions prior to transmitting to print servers or digital imaging equipment. Demonstrates the use of design programs, raster image editing software, job submission software, electronic printing devices, and the use of databases to team members. Provides design and layout support for County employees. Assists the Reprographics Manager in maintaining the Facilities Management website and FTP site, resolving basic hardware and software issues, and reviewing and verifying database records and AutoCAD drawings. Mounts and laminates posters and captures and edits video.

- Operates microcomputer equipment. Typesets and reformats forms, business cards, brochures, labels, decals and all other Countywide documents using current graphics design technology and computer software packages including, but not limited to, Adobe Creative Suite products, Microsoft Office products, and QuarkXpress. Provides proof copies for requesting department's approval. Assists County employees in the preparation of print requests.
- Operates the computer-to-plate imaging system. Makes plates (single color, spot color, or CMYK) of digital files for the following presses: simplex, perfector, and two color. Determines that the correct media is used for each printing device and each job submitted.
- Prepares and reviews job tickets for accurate printing and bindery instructions. Prepares and reviews metal plates or print samples via copiers for proper layout prior to printing.
- Assists the Reprographics Manager in reviewing and verifying the FileMaker Pro database records in preparation for annual reports. Assists the Reprographics Manager in reviewing and verifying the Facilities Management AutoCAD drawings to ensure the integrity of building drawings.
- Assists team members in resolving layout issues with forms, books, brochures, certificates, and all other related documents using industry standard design programs.
- Assists the Reprographics Manager in maintaining the Facilities Management website and FTP site.
- Manipulates digital image (raster) files using raster image editing software applications. Scans documents to become part of the permanent file server.
- Transmits digital documents via document submission software applications to print with all setup programmed to specific device workstations depending on job requirements. Assists team members with digital document submission.
- Assists the Reprographics Manager in resolving basic hardware and software issues related to all design programs, raster image editing software, job management software, servers, and workstations.
- Aids team members in creating, printing, mounting, and laminating posters created on the wide format ink jet printers.
- Sets up and operates the wide format printer system to print and scan architectural and engineering drawings. Manipulates digital files as needed prior to printing.
- Trains team members in the use of design programs, raster image editing software, job submission software, electronic printing devices, and databases.
- Supports the Secretary with daily duties such as answering telephones, pricing completed print jobs, processing community service workers, and creating and mounting plaques.
- Collaborates with the Photographic Technician to capture and edit videos, create Commissioners Court DVDs, and duplicate CDs and DVDs. Assists with the printing and mounting of photos printed in the mini-lab as well as scanning and retouching photographs.
- Assists with annual inventory count and annual reports for Graphics, Photographic Services and the Print Shop.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Associate's degree in graphic design, digital design, or other communications design related field.

Three (3) full time years of work experience in graphic design and layout.

Must have computer hardware and software knowledge.

Comprehensive and expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs and Microsoft Office products required.

Must have expert knowledge of industry standard layout and design programs, document manipulation and submission programs, and have experience working in a digital imaging environment.

Must be familiar with database, spreadsheet, and AutoCAD programs.

Ability to reformat jobs submitted from outside sources.

Must know how to update websites and FTP sites.

Must be able to capture and edit video, process spot color and CMYK jobs to the computer-to-plate system, operate wide formant printers and scanners, and mount posters on foamcore using a wide format laminator.

Must have the ability to analyze and resolve basic computer, software, and electronic imaging related problems.

Must have knowledge of photographic operations. Extreme attention to detail is mandatory. Must have good oral and written communication, leadership, and organization skills.
