JOB SUMMARY

Lead Groups Pastor is responsible for leading the strategic vision and execution of TPCC’s Groups and Discipleship Ministry, creating a disciple-making culture that equips the church both now & into the future. This role oversees the development and growth of three group spaces (micro-group, small group, large group), baptism, and prayer teams, ensuring alignment across all campuses. The Lead Groups Pastor will lead the creation of discipleship pathways, and provide ongoing leadership to the Groups Pastors. This role will cultivate a culture of developing and deploying durable disciples who are equipped to multiply.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This role oversees the Rooted and Large Groups Director and Groups Project Manager
  • This role coaches, guides and provides dotted line oversite to Groups Directors/Pastors at TPCC campuses


DUTIES/PRIMARY JOB PRODUCTS

  • Lead the strategic vision for TPCC’s Groups Ministry, focusing on creating a disciple-making culture that prepares the church for future challenges, including oversight of the group spaces (micro-group, small group, large group), baptism, and response/prayer teams.
  • Oversee Groups spaces through the creation and development of weekly small group study content, leader-equipping training and materials, and refining overall strategies for growing each space.
  • Oversee and evaluate the impact of discipleship strategies through regular assessments of group engagement, development of group leaders, and spiritual growth assessments.
  • Ensure alignment of vision and strategy across campuses, supporting local context while maintaining a unified approach to discipleship.
  • Build a long-term disciple-making culture by equipping leaders and attendees to live missionally, focusing on spiritual formation that integrates biblical knowledge, application, and outreach.
  • Create and refine discipleship pathways, ensuring that the church’s strategies evolve to equip leaders and attendees for lifelong discipleship and multiplication.
  • Provide dotted-line oversight of Groups staff team as they lead, equip, and shepherd our group leaders in each of our spaces. This includes weekly team meetings focused on further developing vision and strategy and overseeing the execution of these strategies.
  • Develop and sustain a group leadership pipeline, identifying and training future leaders who are passionate about disciple-making.

  • This position reports to the Lead Discipleship Pastor.


REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Strong theological foundation with a vision for developing mature, durable disciples.
  • Ability to inspire and align leaders around a common vision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong, creative and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to handle conflict resolution within teams with wisdom, grace, and a biblical perspective.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in responding to the unique challenges and opportunities that arise in a multisite church environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's systems: ROCK, Asana, etc.
  • Provide general pastoral care and sacerdotal duties including counseling, praying, visiting hospitals, funerals, weddings and baptisms.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or related field experience required.
  • At least 5+ years of experience in pastoral ministry, with a focus on groups / discipleship and leadership development.
  • Experience in a multisite or large church setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, equipping, and empowering leaders for ministry.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, kneel or squat.
  • Must be able to lift (#) pounds at times.
  • Must be able to work various hours to accommodate events & Saturday gatherings occasionally.
  • Regular travel between campuses is required to provide support and oversight for Groups Pastors and difference makers.

Exempt/Non-Exempt: Exempt

Full or Part-Time: Full Time

Work Schedule: Sunday – Thursday (occasional Saturdays)
