Requirements:
- An Early Childhood Certificate is required. A B.A. or a B.S. Degree in Early Childhood Development or related field of study is preferred.
- Has a personal relationship with God
- At least one year of experience working in the field of early childhood education.
- Has demonstrated the ability to be a successful Christian preschool teacher.
- Has the desire to professionally grow as a Christian preschool teacher.
- Possess communication skills both oral and written.
- Present a professional image in dress and demeanor to children, parents and staff.
- Demonstrate the following: patience, flexibility, organization, love, care, understanding, sound judgment, sense of humor, and respect for children, parents and others.
- Be able to work with children inside and outside by standing, sitting in a chair or on the floor with the children. Able to move about the classroom and outside areas to make use of instructional aids, manipulative materials, center activities, outside equipment such as tricycles, balls, etc.
- Be able to lift and carry necessary play equipment, materials, earthquake bins, etc. (approximately 40 lbs.)
- Walk up and down stairs to retrieve materials and supplies from the loft area.
- Be able to pass TB Test and Health Screening (LIC 503).
Responsibilities:
- Be able to teach preschool classes as assigned by the preschool director.
- Prepare written assessments for each child in November, March and June using school’s online tools.
- Be responsible for conducting and planning Parent/Teacher Conferences with each child’s parents or guardians.
- Oversee the duties of the assigned teacher assistant and take on these duties as necessary.
- Attend staff retreats, conferences, the annual Lutheran Educator’s Conference, and PSWD early childhood conferences.
- Be available to parents for consultation, as needed, and communicate appropriately using school electronic communications.
- Be able to maintain the requirements for preschool teachers as set forth by the California Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD).
- Be able to implement and carry out the policies as outlined in the Abiding Savior Lutheran Employee Handbook.
- Be able to implement and carry out the preschool procedures as specified by the preschool director.
- Be responsible for the faith development in the lives of the children by model and instruction.
- Be responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing the curriculum on an ongoing basis.
- Be responsible for maintaining a pleasant, clean, well-organized, neat, and center-directed environment.
- Be responsible for attendance at the preschool staff meetings, curriculum meetings, visitation days, new parent orientation, Christmas services, open houses, parent nights, graduation events, or other special events.
- Be willing to participate on preschool staff committees.
- Be responsible for preparing and implementing well-prepared, developmentally appropriate and creative lesson plans using school’s online tools.
- Prepare and maintain a portfolio for each child using school’s online tools.
Pay: $21.00 - $31.00 per hour
