Job Purpose
-
Provide strategic leadership for process safety and industrial hygiene across FEED and Detail Engineering projects in the Oil & Gas sector.
-
Develop, implement, and maintain the process safety management (PSM) framework to ensure compliant, safe, and reliable designs.
-
Lead hazard analyses, risk assessment, and safeguarding strategies to protect personnel, assets, and the environment.
-
Mentor safety engineers and coordinate safety-related interface activities with multi-disciplinary teams and clients.
Key Responsibilities
-
Lead the development and stewardship of process safety concepts, inherently safer design, and risk-based design approaches for FEED and detail scope.
-
Oversee compliance with applicable standards and regulations (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001, API RP 14C, NFPA, IECEx) and project-specific requirements.

Direct HAZOP, CHAZOP, LOPA, SIL, and other risk assessment activities; drive risk reduction actions and verification plans.
-
Review and approve safety-related deliverables (SDS, HSE case, PHA, MOC/Change Notes, safety integrity requirements, P&ID safety layers).

Manage safety interfaces with other disciplines (process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation) and with external vendors.

Lead the development of safety in design (SID) and major accident hazard (MAH) studies; support inherently safer design reviews.

Champion incident investigation, learning reviews, and closure of corrective actions.

Ensure compliance with commissioning and start-up safety requirements; support field safety during construction and operations.

Contribute to project schedules and budgets related to safety deliverables; monitor progress and risks.

Mentor and develop junior safety engineers; support training and professional development.

Maintain awareness of technological advancements in process safety; propose value-added safety solutions.
Experience
-
Experience: 15+ years of experience in FEED and Detail Engineering and EPCM experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
-
ADNOC EPC/PMC experience are highly preferred
-
Demonstrated track record delivering safety-critical design and risk-based studies on FEED/detail projects.
Qualifications
-
Education: Bachelor's of Engineering in a related field.
-
Professional membership or relevant certifications (e.g., CPE or Chartered Safety Engineer) are a plus.

Certification in process safety or risk assessment (e.g., PSM Lead, HAZOP Leader) is advantageous.
Technical Skills
-
Strong background in process safety engineering, hazard analysis, and risk management.

Proficiency with process safety software and methodologies (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA, SIL calculation tools, PHA tools).
-
Familiarity with FEED deliverables, MOC/Change control, and documentation controls.
-
Knowledge of process safety standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., API RP, NFPA, OSHA, ISO 45001).

Experience with lifecycle safety from design through commissioning and operations.

Ability to integrate with process engineering, mechanical, and electrical disciplines for safe design.

Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making abilities.
