In this role, you are responsible for leading the engineering and field services activities for Substation Automation Systems, Protection & Control, and related networks, from early design through commissioning and customer training.
You will closely coordinate your activities with GEV sales, Tendering, Project management, Telecom Engineering team, Application, and After Sales.
This position will report to GA NAFT Engineering & Field Services leader.
What you will do:

Take ownership of the engineering and field services for Substation Automation Systems, including DCS and RTU.

Handle the engineering and field services for Protection, Control, and Tele-Protection panels.
-
Lead and develop the technical team by providing training, mentorship, and day-to-day technical support.
-
Own all technical activities for assigned projects, including:
-
Site surveys and data collection
-
System engineering and detailed design
-
Material specification, purchase requests, and delivery follow-up
-
Coordination and support for panel integration
-
Pre-FAT internal validation and FAT with the customer
-
Supervision of site installation
-
Site testing and commissioning
-
Site red-markups and preparation of as-built drawings
-
System troubleshooting and corrective actions
-
Analyze customer requirements and specifications, and propose innovative, cost-effective technical solutions.
-
Design substation LAN networks and communication architectures, and configure industrial Ethernet switches, routers, and satellite clocks/time synchronization systems.
-
Prepare purchase requests for project materials with accurate technical descriptions.
-
Participate with the Project Manager in meetings with customers, end users, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.

Support project planning to help ensure key milestones are achieved according to the project schedule.

Manage project documentation and ensure proper document flow and control.
-
Follow the department’s standard design processes and contribute to their continuous improvement.

Coordinate with the integration team at the Integration Facility to ensure smooth integration activities, including alignment on materials and documentation.

Lead and conduct Pre-FAT internal validation and FAT with the customer.
-
Lead and supervise site installation, site testing and commissioning, red-markups, as-built documentation, and system troubleshooting and rectification.

Support Sales and Tendering teams by:

Studying and interpreting customer technical and commercial requirements
-
Providing technical input during bid preparation
-
Supporting contract technical negotiations
-
Prepare and deliver customer training sessions, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
What you will bring:
-
Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronics, Control, or Communications Engineering, or a closely related technical field from an accredited institution."

Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering/design and testing/commissioning of Electrical Substation Automation Systems (IEC 61850), RTUs, and conventional/digital control systems for electrical power substations HV/EHV.

Knowledge of sequencing and interlocking principles used in substation automation and their implementation on IEC 61850 IEDs.

Working knowledge of communication and automation protocols such as IEC 61850, MODBUS, IEC 60870-5-101/104, T103, and SNMP.

Good understanding of IT networking.

Proficiency in CAD tools such as AutoCAD and MS Visio.

Strong skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Ability and willingness to travel within and outside the country without limitations, as required.

Fluency in English and Arabic
